Wrestling for Hinsdale Central High School under head coach Bill Huskisson from 1992-1996, Coach Quirk was an IHSA state finals runner-up in 1995 at 160 pounds, and again in 1996 at 171 pounds. He earned Junior Freestyle All-American honors in both 1995 and 1996.
After graduating from Hinsdale Central, Coach Quirk notched 107 career wins wrestling for the Fighting Illini, which included four trips to the NCAA individual finals at 197 pounds. His college career also included two-time NCAA All-American honors and a Big Ten Championship. Coach Quirk is a former NCAA championship runner-up at 197 pounds.
Coach Quirk returned to the Red Devils of Hinsdale Central as a coach from 2003 thru 2016, and is now assisting Coach Polz with the high school program, in addition to leading the instruction for the youth program.
Coach Conrad Polz is beginning his first season leading the varsity wrestling program at Central.
Coach Polz is a three-time IHSA state champion, winning the 135-pound title in 2006, the 140-pound crown in 2007 and the 160-pound championship in 2008. He finished second at the 2007 Fargo Junior Nationals in the 152-pound freestyle class. Wrestling under his father Mike, Coach Polz led Carl Sandburg High School to three straight IHSA Class AA team dual championships.
Coach Polz went on to wrestle for the University of Illinois and represented the United States as a Junior World Team member in 2010. He is a two-time NCAA All-American.
